This Monovarietal EVOO is produced from the prestigious "Peranzana" variety and is a highly nutritious oil due to the quantity of polyphenols. The Peranzana variety was imported from Provence in the 18th century by the Duke of Sangro. It is characterized by a fruity aroma of olive with grassy and floral notes, as well as hints of green tomato, herbs and freshly cut wheat. To the palate this oil is lightly fruited and balanced, with bitter notes that blend with the slightly spicy aftertaste, with delicate hints of almond and artichoke.

Masseria Bosco Pontoni is near San Martino in Pensilis, 120 meters above sea level. Situated on the border between Molise and Puglia, the estate has been in the Colonna family since the start of the 19th century when Prospero Colonna received the land from the Duchess Cattaneo di Sannicandro as part of her dowry.T he land is hilly with medium-textured soil, partially south facing. This stunning estate has vast stretches of olive groves, wheat and sunflowers. Herons, hawks and migratory birds pause to feed at the estate’s three artificial lakes, the first innovative project in Southern Italy carried out by don Francesco in the early 1960s.

The Colonna Estate dedicates 70 of its 320 hectares to olive groves with more than 20 different varieties included the prestigious ones that combine to make the DOP Molise extra virgin olive oil. The farming techniques have a low impact on the environment and the harvest takes place early, using mechanical combs followed by immediate extraction in the estate’s oil mill with its continuous cycle cold press.
